I am starting the day with a chocolate mud sludge smoothy. The day is going to be HUGE and I need a sustaining, healthy breaky to get me into all that has to be done. After reflecting on yesterday, I realised I should have declined to go to a family celebration. I was beyond exhausted and acted out of that; had just had several days of an unwell, but still pushing himself hubby; an unwell bubby; a teen fighting responsibility, and at times, me, and not feeling well at all myself. I just wanted to say- STOP! I need time out. Instead, I allowed myself to be pushed. Learning when to say yes or no is a learned skill. I am still in training. But as I don't want to destroy relationships, this is one area I need to work harder on getting right.
My hormones are currently going crazy. Things are changing post baby at age 45, and I'm not sure if it's my regular cycle kicking back in, or peri-menopause commencing. Either is a possible reality. Add that to my doctor checklist next Tuesday. If it's the latter, I'll take whatever balances me out please! Hypocritical despite my loathing of chemicals, but is just something I am not willing to endure after becoming a woman at the tender age of 11. I have suffered enough! So has everyone else. PMS no more!
That is where loving and forgiving yourself comes into play. Sure, we all stuff up. It's important to see yourself with kind eyes and a soft heart when you do. It doesn't dismiss bad behaviour- we need to work on ourselves and apologise where needed, but we do automatically (or eventually) love and treat others as we treat ourselves. You can eat all the healthy food you like, but if you don't forgive and stay hurting or hard hearted, you are no healthier. Having worked in nursing homes, you realise it's not just about what you eat. Constantly pushing yourself, and/or others too hard takes a toll, as does stress, and of course diet. Life is lived in balance, and no one thing fixes everything. Just as we are spirit, soul, body, we need to keep every area healthy and in check.
Since commencing this post, I have already fed and put a bubby back to sleep, taken almost a full line of washing down, stripped our bed and changed the sheets, and I'm about to hang up the first load after this. I have emptied a nasty nappy bin, deodorised our bedroom, cleaned a loo, done some dishes, sterilised baby bottles and of course, uploaded photo's and blogged. As our floor feels like we need an all terrain vehicle to get over it, I am vaccing soon too. That's only a fraction of what is left to do before noon. It gets far more exciting- trust me! But that is for tomorrow's post :)

Into my magic bullet, I placed half an avocado, some pepitas, a small spoon of natural proteing powder, some natural fibre, cocoa powder, a tablespoon of plain yoghurt, some vanilla, stevia and water.
The result, a super thick, nutrient dense, satisfying smoothy that will keep me going throughout a very busy morning.
This is my view today- bright, fresh and warm. Love that I have green and not houses out back :)
Remember my herb garden? It's growing incredibly well, and has added fresh flavour to many meals already.
My tomato seedlings are doing well. Can't wait to harvest these when mature.
It is so important to find a little place where you can get back to centre- and find peace. Even just five minutes can recharge a weary mind and heart. Taking time to reflect is invaluable. I only have this little garden, but it is soothing and I really enjoy it.
Well, that about ends it for another brief post. I promise to keep them coming as often as I can. They help me keep things in check, and motivate me to stay healthy too. Hope you all have a great weekend. Be ready for my next post- I'm excited to show you why!
Thanks for reading :)
