Day 14, 2 weeks down

Today was a mixed bag. What was good? My bubby slept for 8 hours straight last night, then after a quick feed, slept for another 3 hours. Happy mumma right here! I also took my bubby for a walk to the shops. It was beautifully sunny and very breezy today-definitely spring time now-yay! I was able to fit into pants that haven't fit me since early pregnancy- thrilled about that. And, we visited a relative in hospital today who underwent serious surgery a few days ago- it was good to see them.

The not so good today; my little bubby isn't quite fighting the infection that has been hitting her, so after a week of trying alternatives as recommended by the chemist, we are now off to the doctor tomorrow. This breezy spring weather is bringing one of the severest allergic reactions I've had for a while. Every trip outside is a reason to cry. And traffic home from the hospital was rather insane. It took us an hour and a half to complete a 35 minute trip. Exhausting. Even my iPhone thought so too. It went flat.

Instead of cooking, I washed clothes this morning instead. I had planned to cook a lot today after yesterdays successes, but time got away. The eggplant still sits, alone on my bench. I was tossing up between turning it into baba ganoush or caponata today. It is still a lonely eggplant on my kitchen bench. I shall make it feel useful tomorrow. But that reminds me, I must tell you about the story of my first caponata. I think it served over 50 women. If you are keen to hear, feel free to post it in the comments.

What did I eat today? Now that I have stopped from today's business, I shall fight this food amnesia and think...

Breaky: a forgotten strawberry, yoghurt parfait- made the night before last, and a cuppa at 6:30am.
Morning tea: apple and small serve of almonds and a weak cuppa at 9am.
Lunch: Mountain bread wrap with 1 boiled egg, a heaped teaspoon of spinach pesto and salad plus another coffee at 12.
Afternoon tea: Beetroot/ protein powder/ yoghurt smoothy at 2pm.
Dinner: Marinated gravy beef steak, approx 250gms, at 6:30pm.
Supper: weak decaff/ cocoa drink with a hint of stevia at 7:30pm.

The steak was surprisingly tender for gravy beef. I marinated it for 2 days in just soy sauce, turning a few times. Then tonight, I heated coconut oil in a moderate/hot fry-pan and seared one side for several minutes, turned it, cooked it for a few minutes more then covered the pan for 5 minutes. Juicy and quite tender. Not bad for a budget steak. Sorry there are no photo's, but a certain phone was still desperately charging.

Tomorrow is- gasp- weigh in day! I'm a bit excited!

Until then, thanks for reading :)
